From Real Simple’s ‘Start with Hot Cocoa’ feature, this is one of three ‘new-to-me’ ways to make some delicious hot chocolate.
Now I just use Swiss Miss instant hot chocolate. I grew up making it with water and every once in a while I’d add some whipped cream. Lately though I’ve been trying it with warm milk instead. I’ve tried other types of instant hot chocolate but have not been able to tell any real difference that stands out over the budget friendly and yummy Swiss Miss.
Anyway, this isn’t a debate on instant hot chocolate brands. Does anyone know where to find malted milk powder? I couldn’t find malted milk powder so I did have to omit that.
I have had marshmallows in my hot chocolate before, usually just mini ones. I’d never had toasted marshmallows like this though. And they are yummy! I will warn you, they do make a great insulator and keep the hot chocolate under them piping hot. So just be careful. I don’t know how many times I settle in to enjoy a nice cup of hot cocoa and end up burning my tongue pretty darn good that the rest of the cup is that much less enjoyable.
I LOVE malt flavoring. Definitely going to try this! I never thought of it for hot chocolate.
Where do you find it?! And I must sound so helpless, I feel like I’m always asking you to help me find things! lol
